Wythall Animal Sanctuary has been running successful boarding kennels for 40 years. Monies raised from boarding go directly into supporting the day to day running costs of the Sanctuary.
Most of the canine visitors are former Sanctuary dogs, who enjoy returning to us every year for their 'country' holiday!
The boarding kennels are situated in a separate part of the Sanctuary from our rescue dogs. Each of our 11 boarding kennels has an indoor heated sleeping area connected to their own outdoor run. Added to this dogs are excercised twice a day in our large field.
Cost
The cost of boarding your dog with us is just £10 a day. A deposit of £5 is required to confirm your booking. If your dog is not insured then we can offer insurance costing just £2 per week to cover your dog during its stay with us.
Care
Whilst with us your dog will be cared for by our experienced and qualified kennel staff who, coming from a animal welfare background, have your dog's well-being at heart. Your dog's diet and usual feeding times will be catered to. Our staff are experienced and happy to administer routine medication. Should we have any concerns regarding your pet's health then our vet is only 5 minutes away. We record your pet's own veterinary details so that they can be treated by your own vet if you prefer.
We also ask you to leave us the contact number of a relative or friend we could contact on your behalf should the need arise while you are away.
Owners of boarding dogs please note a member of
staff on resident on site.
Conditions - Vaccinations
In order to be able to stay at our boarding kennels your dog MUST be vaccinated boosted up to date. This means your dog will have had its initial vaccinations or a booster within the last 12 months for:
Distemper
Hepatitis
Parvovirus
Parainfluenza
and Leptospirosis.
Other Vaccinations
Kennel Cough - at the moment we do not insist that your dog has had the vaccination for Infectious Bronchitis, or Kennel Cough. If your dog is vaccinated for this virus it MUST be administered at least 3 weeks BEFORE it enters our kennels.
Rabies - at present your dog does not need to be vaccinated against this disease to board with us. If your dog HAS been then you MUST inform us when you make your booking.
Kennel Inspection
We welcome you to come along and view our kennels prior to booking your dog in. Ideally this needs to be done during the Sanctuary's normal opening hours:
2pm - 4pm Winter Months (October - February)
2pm - 4.30pm Summer Months (March - September)
Dogs must be delivered and collected between 9am and 10.30am or 2pm and 4:30pm or by special arrangement with the Sanctuary Manager. If you collect your dog before 10.30am you will NOT be charged for that day. Later collection will incur a further day's charge.
These times are specified to keep the disruption to the smooth running of the 'SANCTUARY' to a minimum. We hope that clients will appreciate this and adhere to our wishes.
Identification
According to the Control of Dogs Order 1992 your dog should wear a collar and disc at ALL times. The disc should bear your surname and current address. When your dog is in our care he/she MUST wear a secure collar (NOT A CHECK CHAiN), bearing your current name and address. Your telephone number and the dogs name are optional and we leave that to your discretion.
Irrespective of whether your dog is microchipped, or what other form of identification they bear at home, whilst he/she is in our care we do INSIST that the dog is legally correct.
Microchipped
If your dog is microchipped or bears some other form of ID please inform us when you book it in.
Possessions
Please do not leave your dog's lead with us. Please ensure that you bring it with you when you collect your dog.
Belongings are left at your own risk, we cannot be held responsible for any damage or loss of items during your dog's stay.
If you are arranging for a third party to deliver or collect your dog you must advise us in advance.
Full payment must be made at either on arrival or on collection. Cheques will only be accepted with a current banker's card. We DO NOT accept payment by Credit or Debit Card.
Wythall Animal Sanctuary have the right to refuse to admit a dog for boarding.
