| Tara came in to us because her owner was emigrating. She had only had Tara for a few weeks from another rescue home. She had been taken into that centre as a stray so her history is unknown. Tara has been re-homed three times from the Sanctuary but has never settled in a home environment. Each time she came back in a bad way. In the new home Tara is very stressed, she does not eat, she spins, howls and is very destructive. She will not walk on a lead and runs away if let off. Her last owner tried her for over six months. He was in constant touch with us, he had sessions with three different dog behaviourists, enrolled Tara in the local dog training class, fell out with his mother, had to redecorate his house and lost his long term girlfriend all in an effort to keep Tara. In the end he admitted defeat and brought her back because Tara was so unhappy. Tara is very happy here at the Sanctuary. She is one of the first dogs let out and stays out, with the option of going in or out of her kennel as she pleases, during the day and is one of the last dogs put away at night. She mixes well with and enjoys the company of the group of dogs she lives with. We can safely walk her daily loose around our field and she never attempts to escape. Roll on the stable yard muck heap? Yes! Disappear to the rabbit house to watch the bunnies? Yes! But run away no, why would she? She is a very contented girl.
